Vista RC2 available to the public

Windows Vista Logo For those of you traitors curious about the new Windows operating system, the RC2 of Windows Vista is now available to the pubic. This will be the last build until the long awaited release of Vista in September November January. I’ve installed Vista builds before, and used them for about a day or two before getting bored and moving back to OS X. You could also try installing the RC2 in Parallels, but my Mac ran really slow after I installed RC1, especially during the install, thus defeating the purpose of virtualization. But overall, why waste bandwidth and hard disk space with an inferior OS? Just hold out until Leopard, and Vista will seem like a bad, poorly coded dream.

Your comments sound more patriotic to the Mac platform than realistic. I think both Windows and Mac are two great operating systems, both have their unique qualities that make them admired by users of both platforms. I have been running Windows Vista since Beta 1 and I do admit there were some really bad moments and there still remains a few sticky spots (UAC), overall, its shaping up to be a great release. Mac OS X is a innovative OS that continues to push the bar even further, but comparing out of box experiences, I would say Vista beats it hands down. But I love both.

I admit, I did sound very anti-Vista in that post, but the truth is that I didn't see anything special in Vista. Sure, it's a big improvemnet over XP, but it's still nowhere near as good as Tiger, let alone Leopard.

Ok just a question and maybe not one for this topic, but here goes.

Vista is being made in a more modular way now right? Just like Linux?

I seriously wouldn't be surprised if MS took a version of Linux that could run MS programs, re did the UI to look like Vista and then sold it to the world. Maybe I should say I'm surprised that they haven't done it already after Mac went to OS X.

Anyway maybe it's too late for MS with the new $100 laptop on the way for the third world children, they will all be Linux users soon.
