Being a Mac writer entails several journalistic obligations: Checking Software Update every ten minutes; freaking out when the Apple Store goes offline; spending 80% of your time speculating about rumors; taking everything John Gruber says as divine insight; and making fun of Microsoft and Windows when it’s a slow news day.
Well, whattayaknow — it’s a slow news day! And looky here: CNN provides some yummy Microsoft-bashing ammunition.
We all know how Vista’s been received so warmly by the computer-using public. Well, seems a bunch of Windows XP users — under the lead of tech journalist Galen Gruman — have created a petition imploring Microsoft to continue sales and support of Windows XP, which is supposed to bite the digital dust on June 30. According to the article, the Save XP petition has garnered over 100,000 signatures of users “who want Microsoft to keep selling it until the next version of Windows is released, currently targeted for 2010.”
“PC” must be pissed.
In other news, most Mac OS 9 users have happily transitioned to Mac OS X.
MacUser is your source for news, info, and opinion about Apple, the Mac, and the iPod. Our dedicated team of bloggers covers everything that is relevant to Mac users — and, okay, some stuff that’s not quite relevant, but is still a lot of fun.
Nothing like some good old school windows bashing! Keep it coming!
