Parallels Workstation has just been upgraded to Beta5, featuring lots of new improvements and bug fixes. Probably the most important feature of Beta5 is support for USB devices, which is obviously a huge deal. Beta5 also uses something called the “OS transition cube,” which allows switching between multiple operating systems in full-screen mode using the same animation as fast user switching in OS X (check out YouTube for a video of the transition cube). Beta5 also features dynamic screen resolutions, which allows guest OS screen resolutions to be filled by OS X’s resolutions. And, of course, Beta5 has a bunch of bug fixes, including ones that solve issues with sleeping/waking and kernel panics. But Paralels Workstation is still prone to bugs and crashes, so make sure you think about the risks ou’re taking just to install an inferior OS on your wonderful Mac.
