If you’re one of those “don’t fix it if it ain’t broke” people, your copy of Boot Camp (version 1.2) may have expired yesterday. I’ll pretend that there aren’t a few weirdos floating around that only run their Mac in Windows. At any rate, Apple has remembered you with an aptly named knowledge base entry: When does Boot Camp Beta expire? Considering how many of you are quick to point out my typos, Apple really did title it that way. Have at them with all your pent up rage. Email Steve Jobs if the spirit moves you.
If you’ve been a good little software updater, you’re in the clear until the moment that Leopard is released. It’s unclear whether this will be an enforced change (with the Assistant software checking the net for a release indicator) or just a semantic change (though Apple has never supported the software officially anyway). Now that we’re in October, we could see Leopard at any time. I’m tingling with excitement.
I met a guy in one of my courses at university that used his MacBook only for Windows. I was so upset and distraught that I refused to help him solve any tech support issues.
