While Mac users get to enjoy a lot of Apple software, our Windows-using brethren is only blessed with a very tiny subset of those applications, namely iTunes, QuickTime Player, and Safari. Steve Jobs once even famously likened it to “giving a glass of ice water to people in hell”.
What often gets overlooked, however—unless it’s trying to mischievously sneak in software you didn’t ask for—is Apple Software Update for Windows, the little utility that keeps the glass of ice water chilled and fresh.
Well, fans of Apple Software Update will be glad to know that Apple has dished out an update exclusively for the Windows version of the utility, bringing the version number up to 2.1.1. In typical Apple fashion, the only thing you get to know about the update is that it improves reliability and security, and that should be enough to get anyone wildly excited about the prospects of this splendid update.
Now, all the Windows users (and Mac users with a secret crush on Windows—you know who you are) out there who have iTunes and Safari installed, get crackin’ already. It’s only available through Apple Software Update for Windows anyway. You wouldn’t want it to disappear, now, would you?

Last I heard about an update to the updater was from Microsoft with relation to Office. I guess this stuff keeps happening in the Windows world.
Why do you have to write something on this page that makes no sense. Updating the updater is no new thing. Microsoft has updated their Windows Update software a couple of times... So what's so Apple about it?
