Each OS X release we get assaulted blessed with even more eye candy than the release before. Sometimes it’s nice to take a look at our roots. Appletell has taken it upon themselves to boot up a Mac Plus 22 years after its release and create a little video.
What may shock and dismay the more senior of our readership is that I never even got a chance to use System 6.0.4, which was featured in the video. I started with System 7.1. I started with color. Thousands of colors. That was the cat’s meow.
Appletell takes us on a tour of the system’s various desk accessories. It also shows Microsoft Word. For those keeping score, I do believe it was the last version that wasn’t bloated.
My first Mac came with System 7, as I recall, despite the fact that its 2MB of memory wasn't quite enough to handle it, so I ended up downgrading to 6.0.7 for a year or so, until we could afford the RAM upgrade.
