Slinging media to your iPhone

Sling Player Sling Media’s very cool Slingbox is designed to take the video content that’s normally sent to your TV and push it out into your network or onto the internet. You can watch it on your computer within your home or from your hotel on the road. They’ve also developed clients for Windows Mobile and Palm devices, allowing you to watch your media anywhere you can get a decent signal (you’re going to want unlimited data ‘natch).

I just mentioned two devices that increasingly used for smartphones. You see where I’m going with this. Sling and Apple are in talks to let the iPhone be another receiver so says Sling Media’s CEO.

Krikorian made the comments after participating in a panel discussion at the National Association of Broadcasters conference, but he declined to offer details about the talks or say whether Apple welcomed such a plan. He did say Sling Media “would love to support” the iPhone.

Just think. Sling plans on supporting the Apple TV. It also wants to support the iPhone. A Slingbox could act as the conduit between your media and your cell phone (assuming of course that the EDGE wireless connection is strong enough to support the stream). A relationship like that could really help both companies sales.
