I’m in ur television, talkin’ bout ur apps

Posted by Dan Moren | Tuesday, August 26, 2008 12:19 PM PT

Yes, it’s been a bit of a slow morning, but here: enjoy this video of yours truly on FOX Business News, talking about the iPhone and the App Store. Marvel as I rack my brains trying to come up with an application that the iPhone could use! Rejoice as I avoid saying anything terribly embarrassing about monkeys and pogo sticks! Wonder where the heck that backdrop is supposed to be!

Against all odds, that went surprisingly well. I kind of expected Fox to set me on fire, especially as I haven’t been exactly kind to them in the past. Oh well, bygones, right? Maybe they’re just setting me up for a trap next time.

Well done, Dan! How did you score such an interview?

Please don't change the name. Appleworld? What is that?

@wesg: I don't think a name change is actually in the cards. We're pretty darn happy being Macworld (and having been so for the last almost 25 years). As for scoring the interview, they called me more or less out of the blue, so, just lucky I guess.

Favorite App... Sketch? Are you kidding me? There's gotta be a more serious app that you really enjoy. I have a hard time believing that so much that was missing from the iPhone and which was filled with the app store, you think that a 'waste my time" app is your favorite. Who knew? I would have put my money on a task lists application.

Good job by the way.

@Moe: Wait until you need to keep two small children amused for a solid chunk of time, and then tell me that Sketches isn't worth its weight in gold. ;)

That said, there are plenty of other apps that I like, but when you're put on the spot to pick one (on TV, nonetheless), it's all about the first thing that comes to mind. Honestly, a lot of the built-in apps are still the ones I use most (Mail, Maps, Safari), but if I had to pick some other ones that I really use, I'd say VNC, AIM, Remote, Urbanspoon, and Exposure.
