Don’t walk, run: the TARDIS shows up on iTunes

Posted by Dan Moren | Wednesday, July 23, 2008 8:45 AM PT

Doctor WhoSo I went into iTunes to search for something in the App Store—and now I’ve totally forgotten what it is. Because when I loaded the first page of the iTunes Store, I caught sight of a banner at the top for Doctor Who and my mind immediately started hearing a distinctive vworp! vworp! sound. At which point, I lost capability for all coherent askarj.

Er, thought. Right.

Even though Season 4 just recently came to a close in the UK (and is ending imminently here in the US), it’s Season 3—the Martha Jones year, if that’s how you measure things—that’s up on iTunes for the taking. Well, buying. Wellll, not so much buying as a soon-to-be outmoded form of exchanging currency for digital bits, that’s really just a glorified way of sending information from one place to another through these brilliant tubes—like some sort of gigantic spider-web of data.

Brilliant.

Dr Who is on SciFi here in the states - which is NBC/Universal right? Is this a sign that NBC shows will be back?

Will:

That may very well be however Dr. Who is also shown on BBC America which is the channel entitiy that is offering the download. Unfortunately I have a feeling that the answer to your question is then no.

Cue Handel's Messiah... you know which part.

Now I know definitively on what to spend the iTunes card burning a hole in my pocket.

Rather than torrent/FLV/MPEG Streamclip/sync, I'm much rather buy the damn thing anyway.

Torrents of Doctor Who are okay until the DVDs are out, then you are required to go out and buy the DVDs! If you don't, Donna will melt your brain!!
