Looking for a streaming solution to keep you happy until the iTV makes its appearance? Well, if you have an Xbox 360, you’re already half way there. The game console may not be quite as svelte as an Apple offering, but, it’s white, so that’s pretty close, right?
How to get Microsoft and Apple talking to each other, though? Why, Nullriver’s Connect360, of course. The software installs as a preference pane and lets you share your iTunes and iPhoto libraries to your Xbox 360. Just fire up the old 360’s Dashboard and navigate through your libraries, just as if you were sitting in front of your computer. Unfortunately, you can’t use it to watch videos over the network. It supports MP3, AAC, WAV, AIFF, Apple Lossless, JPEG, RAW, GIF, PNG, BMP, and TIFF. Of course, iTunes-purchased music is not supported.
I wouldn’t suggest running out and buying a 360 if you don’t already have one merely on the basis of this software, but if you’ve been looking for a way to bridge the two of ‘em together, looks like this is right up your alley.
