No, you are not dreaming. The man child you see here is indeed New York Times columnist David Pogue. This is when you really start wonder what’s happening at the NY Times for stuff of this caliber to happen. After dropping a HD camcorder in his staircase, blending a BlackBerry with a cellphone, and putting his Dell in the washing machine (well, we don’t blame him for that), Pogue is now re-shooting the video of his life in digital format — or he could just use the product he’s reviewing to transfer his old media to DVDs, but that’s another story.
If you too want to bring some of your old footage into the digital era, you’ll need two things: lots of patience, and the guide from our friends at Macworld on how to go “From VHS to DVD” (featured in the June 2004 issue, for you faithful subscribers like myself). As you can see, it’s not the most recent article, but it’s still perfectly applicable to a 2007 project.
Now, if your only interest in reading this post was David Pogue making a fool out of himself, that’s fine: you can catch his weekly facetious videos on iTunes as a podcast. Or you could do something productive with your life and transfer some old footage, but that’s up to you. Some of us produce, some of us consume, and it’s that how it’s supposed to be?
MacUser is your source for news, info, and opinion about Apple, the Mac, and the iPod. Our dedicated team of bloggers covers everything that is relevant to Mac users — and, okay, some stuff that’s not quite relevant, but is still a lot of fun.
