Apple gussies up Movie Trailers section

Movie searchI’m the sort of person who hates getting to movies late because you miss the best part: trailers. Ah, movie trailers, a fine art form unto themselves. Given my affection for the trailer it makes sense that I enjoy, more than anyone should, the Movie Trailers section of Apple’s website.

More trailers than you can shake a stick at, and they’re presented in glorious QuickTime to boot? Sign me up.

As an eagle eyed trailer aficionado, I’ve notice that Apple has been tweaking their movie trailer site over the last few months. A nifty new search box has been added (pictured at the top of this post) that filters out any trailers that don’t match your criteria (I now know that Chevy Chase is featured in exactly one movie with a trailer on Apple’s site). Apple’s web elves have also made it easier to look at only the HD trailers, trailers that have just been added, and trailers that you can only see on Apple’s site.

The specific trailer page itself has also been spruced up a bit. A sprinkle of AJAX here, a fancy graphic there and you have a new and improved trailer page. The movie summaries are now excerpted, with an option to ‘view more,’ and standard def trailers now play in a faux pop-up window within your browser (JavaScript magic, no doubt).

I know what you’re thinking, ‘Sheesh, you sure can yammer on about movie trailers.’ Yes, yes I can and I have one more thing to point out. If you are looking to save those neato trailers to your Mac, but you don’t have QuickTime Pro, simply avail yourself to the Movie Trailer section of the iTunes Store (that’s an iTunes Store link there). Downloading the HD trailer for Mamma Mia has never been easier!

Most people don't know that you can download trailers from the iTunes store without them having to load and all that crap.

I must say though, Apple has steadily been implementing more and more of Ajax into their website and it is working just great.

Congrats on your first post btw!

...or even better. I have subscribed myself for the PodCast of HD trailers. This unfortunately not directly from Apple (maybe it exist, but I could not find it) but from one UK site.

If anybody knows if you can subscribe to Apple's own HD trailer podcast and knows the link, let us know.
