200611091410Bare Bones software has released the next version of its popular information organizer Yojimbo. Version 1.3 now includes tags, which I assume allows easier searching and organizing of your data.

There are some people who swear by this application and its amazing organizational abilities, but I have not found it so. A couple weeks ago I downloaded the free trial and used it for a couple days. I found the application to be of no real use to me. I’d much rather use Safari bookmarks, Stickies, and MS Word documents to store information as each app has its own distinct purpose. Yojimbo to me seemed like a great idea with not such great implementation.

I find that Yojimbo is great for storing web sites that you'll just forget about if you bookmark (it can create a web archive like Safari), or serial numbers for your software, and many other things. For pack-rat users like me it's invaluable and great at storing all the little things that you'll just lose in folders and forget.

I like Yojimbo for corraling all my misc info bits in one place. The program is easy to use and quick, ime.
