Long-awaited updates arrive for Keynote and Pages

iworkIf you’ve been experiencing some stability problems with Pages 2 and Keynote 3, just like me and these nice people, you might want to run Software Update. Apple released some minor (yet major—20 and 60 MB each) updates to their iWork suite this afternoon, versions x.0.1 of the applications. The updates claim to fix problems related to charts, images, and textures, as well as “a number of other minor issues.” That last part is what I’m looking forward to, as the chart/image features in iWork have worked well for me.

To be honest with you, I’ve been a little disappointed in the quality of programs Apple is putting out with iWork. In both iWork 05 and iWork 06 I have been getting crashes, especially when dealing with large files and very long transition-intensive presentations. It took Apple over three months to release bug fixes for iWork 06, where as iLife 06 updates were out within weeks of the release. Hopefully these small updates fix some of my and people’s problems.

The updates were about 25 and 40 for me, using Software Update on an Intel iMac.... it'd odd that such inconsitencies occur...
