A little chirping bird has just informed me that the software release you’ve been waiting for has arrived: a beta of Twitterrific 2.0 is now available to the public. Notable changes include the ability to resize the message area, spell check, and new display options for your list of tweets: you can have all messages expanded in the list, or you can expand them one at the time. Plus, little buttons on each tweet allow you to go to the person’s Twitter homepage, go to their own website, or mark the tweet as a favorite.
During my ten minutes of use (this is fresh news, guys), the app seemed stable and functional. The bigger message pane is a much welcome improvement, and I dig the new options for displaying messages. Also, I can now reply to a tweet by pressing Command-2, or send a direct message to the author of the selected tweet by pressing Command-D. Finally, the cool stuff: new notification sounds, an improved progress indicator, and a new menu bar icon. What more could you wish for?
