SuperDuper! 2.5 is spotted (like a Leopard, get it?)

SuperDuper!Everybody’s favorite exclamatory backup utility has at long last been updated to work with Leopard. Shirt Pocket Software’s excellent SuperDuper! has been revved to version 2.5 today, bringing Leopard compatibility—including the ability to make bootable backups—and a handful of new features.

For example, there’s now a “Run Now” button for making Scheduled Copies whenever you want, automatic preservation of a custom icon on the destination volume (woo hoo!), scripts that ignore Google Desktop Index Files and iTunes temp files, and more. In the Leopard category, besides being able to create bootable backups, SuperDuper! also plays nice with Time Machine: you can have backups and Time Machine on the same volume—saves you the money of buying a second drive, if nothing else.

I know Derik’ll be a happy camper; he’s been waiting for a new release practically since Leopard came out. Me, I’ve been using Time Machine pretty regularly on my MacBook, but SuperDuper!’s remained my backup utility of choice on my aging PowerMac (because yes, it’s still running Panther).

SuperDuper! 2.5 remains just $27.95, and it’s a free update to current registered users.

Excellent! I've been waiting for this one for ages - while TimeMachine is great for belt and braces backups (even though it's well documented how to use it to do a full restore in case of emergency) there's nothing quite as useful as having a spare drive with a bootable copy of your hard disk on it. I'm off to upgrade right now.

I use SuperDuper! a lot, both to keep a bootable backup and also for machine migrations. Apple's software is great, but there's nothing like having a straight duplicate of the hard drive.
