SubEthaEdit was beyond just a gem back when it was freeware. It was totally unappreciated. I think they decided to start charging at the right time. Its collaborative editing mode is simply unbelievable and has to be seen to be appreciated.
I’ve used it for something rather important and it does the task flawlessly. No sooner do you type a character than it shows up on the displays of others. It’s so good that as you type a sentence, another person can correct your typos on the fly.
Programming aficionados may immediately recognize this as a perfect tool for extreme programming. It’s also perfect for writing things that with limited time constraints. It’s even great for group editing across the internet.
This latest release adds tabs, glorious tabs. I feel like I almost have too many text editing options (BBEdit, TextMate, SubEthaEdit). That’s truly a first world problem.
