One of the cooler pieces of Mac software around is the excellent Salling Clicker. Today, version 3.5 was released. Using this software, you can control your Mac with your cell phone. Give your presentations, control iTunes, be in control of your media, it’s all possible. Salling Clicker includes a large number of Applescripts you invoke with your phone through Bluetooth or WiFi. You can even create your own.
I was beginning to wonder about the future of the product because the last update was in December of 2005. That’s a year and a half sans new phone support. Thankfully, it’s back and better than ever. Front row is now supported and WiFi support has been enhanced. It also adds support for a boat load of new devices now amounting to more than 300 now. He does note that the iPhone isn’t supported because of a current lack of support for 3rd party applications (if this doesn’t change, it’ll be a shame). Regardless, if you’ve got a phone you’d like to use as a remote control, check out Salling Clicker. You won’t be disappointed.
