The Safari 3.0 beta, or more specifically the WebKit version that’s included with it, is prompting all kinds of software updates. The little hiatus that Apple’s taken from WebKit updating has become painfully apparent in the number of new services it supports. I hope this doesn’t become a regular occurrence because the way the web moves, browsers need regular updates.
First up, we’ve got Shiira 2.1. According to their website, “The main puropse of this version is to support new Web Kit, installed by Safari 3.0. We fixed many issues with that, and integrated new features. And bug fix, and bug fix.” Gold star for the first reader that figures out the last sentence.
Second, one of my favorite Safari add-ons, Safari Stand has been updated. When I first installed, most pages showed up as blanks, requiring several reloads to show up. I didn’t realize how much I leaned on this utilities until I had to take them away. Now I can restore one of my favorites.
Finally, NetNewsWire, the RSS reader of choice, got updated to deal with some hotkey problems that popped out. I was wondering why I kept scrolling through my tabs when I pressed 0 or 9 while in a web form.
