I have a software crush on Omni Group. I’ve upgraded both the OmniGraffle and OmniOutliner apps that come with pro Macs to the Professional versions. As part of a ploy to distract us from the continued lack of a public OmniFocus presense, they’ve let everyone know that internally, OmniGraffle 5 alpha builds have been made.
So, what this all means is that we’re finally building nightly alphas of OmniGraffle 5, and it’s going to be a long long time before anything comes remotely close to being public.
I hate to be cynical, but here’s my translation: “Here’s another piece of vaporware that you may not proceed to wonder about and drool over for months until we release something.” It’s great to get an inside glimpse into the company, but if you wave a piece of meat in front of a dog long enough, no matter how much it loves you, it’ll snap. Give us a taste Omni. We beg you.
