If your Microsoft AutoUpdater ran today, you may have noticed a new update for Office 2008. If it didn’t run, then you probably didn’t notice it, in which case you can thank yours truly for pointing it out.
The update, according to Microsoft documentation, improves security and fixes a number of vulnerabilities an attacker can use to overwrite the contents of your computer’s memory with malicious code.
Microsoft also made note that the Office Installer no longer grants restricted users unauthorized access to Office 2008 for Mac program files. This is a good thing.
There’s a number of security fixes for the individual programs in Office listed at the Microsoft Help and Support site. The major ones include improved stability (less crashes) for Word 2008 and Excel 2008, improved performance for PowerPoint 2008, and a bug-fix involving notification sounds with Entourage running on Leopard. You can download the update using the Microsoft AutoUpdate application or by visiting the Microsoft Download Center.

Excellent. Excel crashed on me about 5 minutes ago. Can't have that happen again, can we.
Versiontracker users are saying the Office 2004 update (11.4.2 I think) is completely deleting Entourage. I haven't heard anything on the 2008 version update.
