200610011719Last Friday Apple released the slated (and much-awaited) update to Aperture: version 1.5. Unfortunately I couldn’t make a post when the update was actually released, due to my computer problems. I have installed the update, however, and things seem to be going fine. I’ll post a more detailed account of my experiences when I’ve had more time to play around.

One interesting thing of note, though, is under the system requirements for Aperture 1.5. All computers need at least 1GB of RAM to run Aperture, except the Mac Pro, which is listed as a minimum of 2GB. While I certainly understand that most Mac Pro users will have at least 2GB in their systems, I’m not quite sure why Apple would impose this limitation. Sure it will run faster with 2GB, but why require it if all other systems only require 1GB?

Maybe the reason is better memory performance since both riser cards are being used. If true it's a shame Apple didn't explain it better.
