The last time we checked in with the newsreader of choice among many of us MacUsers, NetNewsWire, superhero developer Brent Simmons had released a “d” for dangerous 3.0 build. This new version has dropped the dangerous moniker, but is still an alpha and can result in data loss (though, in my limited and by no means conclusive experience, it’s been rather stable).
One of the new things in this build as compared to the last is the reappearance of horizontal tabs (hear that Omni? Brent found a way to support both styles of tabs!). That’s only one of an almost unimaginably long list of changes. NetNewsWire is, as far as I’m concerned, the leading RSS client in the Mac universe and seeing where the application is going gives you an idea of where RSS is heading in general.
MacUser is your source for news, info, and opinion about Apple, the Mac, and the iPod. Our dedicated team of bloggers covers everything that is relevant to Mac users — and, okay, some stuff that’s not quite relevant, but is still a lot of fun.
It does seem pretty stable. I've been using the betas and they haven't crashed on me yet. You guys turned me on to NNW - thanks! Also QuickSilver. That brought me countless hours of fun this weekend.
