What do you do the day after a Stevenote, when all the excitement is settling down and you’re recovering from the keynote frenzy? Why, whip out Software Update and get in on some of the downloading action, of course. Apple has pushed out updates for four applications today - iTunes, QuickTime, iMovie and Front Row.
iTunes 7.6 brings with it the capability to rent movies from the iTunes Store in sizes of up to 720p HD and play the iTunes Digital Copies in Fox DVDs.
QuickTime 7.4 fixes some bugs and security issues and also brings with it support for the newest version of iTunes. Like all QuickTime updates, this one requires a restart.
The iMovie update “addresses issues when publishing movies to a .Mac Web Gallery, improves overall stability, and addresses a number of other minor issues” and the Front Row update brings improved support for iTunes 7.6 and some bug fixes.
If, for some reason, you dislike the idea of Software Update automatically downloading and installing the updates for you, you can always grab them individually from the downloads section of Apple Support.
MacUser is your source for news, info, and opinion about Apple, the Mac, and the iPod. Our dedicated team of bloggers covers everything that is relevant to Mac users — and, okay, some stuff that’s not quite relevant, but is still a lot of fun.
Does anyone know when update 10.5.2 will be released for Leopard?
You say "If, for some reason, you dislike...". After reading over and over on MacFixit about solving problems by using the downloads instead of using Software Update, or how different things are changed/installed, I never use SU. Maybe that's primarily an issue for system updates but I do it for everything.
wrong, on itunes 7.6 can't play HD on it, neep apple tv for HD.
apple tv still isnt hd, look at the resolution.
@Anonymous 1280 x 720 (with Dolby 5.1 Audio). Last I checked, that's HD.
