MobileMe software update is live

MobileMe Dan was lamenting his lack of MobileMe software update, but it has arrived. It even presents its own special software update dialog. I installed quick as I could naturally. Icons and text have changed. Mail now talks “@me.com” addresses. It’s a life changing event.

Once installed, I headed on over to Me.com to see the fancy new login. I got a quick glimpse at the iDisk app. I tried to use the email web access, but was presented with an introduction video. It was lovely and very advertisery, but I want to actually use the email. It wouldn’t let me get rid of the video, so I reloaded the page to get treated to a redirection. D’oh.

The System Preferences application features a new MobileMe icon instead of .Mac, but parts of the interface that require server data don’t work at the moment. For now, we wait patiently (like Apple fans are ever patient).

Where do you find the software update? It is not coming up on software update on my mac, and when I go to system preferences on my computer and click on .mac it doesn't come up either.

It takes time for all of the current .Mac users info to transfer over. That's a lot of data. They calculated wrong. Made some bad judgement calls on the IT side .

MobileMe will be nice. Hold your PeePee.

FWIW, I'm in the UK and managed to access all of MobileButSoFarUnreliableMe's services earlier today and found the new iDisk to be MUCH faster than the .Mac one. That said, it took about an hour to transfer 300 and a bit meg of data over a T1 LAN.
