Software update Tuesday continues with the other half of my dynamic duo of blogging. We covered NetNewsWire’s bump to 3.0 status; now, former Ranchero project MarsEdit also gets a little new version love with a rev to 1.2. If NetNewsWire is the Batman of my workflow, then MarsEdit is clearly its Robin Batgirl Nightwing. Except, you know, less angsty.
MarsEdit is of course now under the superb care of MacUser amigo Daniel Jalkut and his auspicious Red Sweater Software. Version 1.2 adds Growl functionality (rowr), support for the Vox blogging system, and the ability to upload images to the Picasa web service. In fact, I’m writing this in MarsEdit 1.2 and the whole experience is just like getting a luxurious massage. Really.
Lovely, lovely. Now if only Daniel would be so kind as to integrate that “Automatically Write Blog Post” feature that we’ve been repeatedly requesting. Or at least that “Insert Clever Joke” menu item for those days that the creative juices just aren’t flowing. I mean, coming up with a Nightwing reference? Blogging ain’t like dusting crops, boy.
I was trying to figure out why I know the name Red Sweater Software so well. I got it! It's because this guy wrote quiet MBP over a year ago and saved my friggin' ears until Apple replaced my logic board with one that did not include a g*dd**n built in tuning fork that made my sensitve ears bleed. Bless him. Bless him. Just for that bit of freeware, I'm going to by Mars Edit. Then I'm going to start a blog. A blog about nothing.
