It may be a small shock to you that Mac OS X has bugs. That fact may rock you to your very core. I’ll let you in on a secret. Every OS has bugs that crop up from time to time. Day in and out, software developers from the tiniest indie to the largest corporation discover these issues and workaround them.
Mozilla has been forced to release yet another RC of Firefox 3.0 to deal with such a bug. The bug in VerifiedDownloadPlugin causes some systems to crash at startup and shutdown. Mozilla identified the bug and was informed that Apple was aware and working on it. However, as they don’t know the timeline for the fix, a workaround fix was warranted to best serve their customers.
To be very honest, this is much ado about very little. This happens every day. Let’s hope Apple fixes the bug in a future bug release, though to be honest, Mozilla will still need to include the workaround unless they plan on excluding 10.5.3 in their list of requirements.
