OK? So if you’re still here, chances are you’re the proud owner of a brand new iMac or of a not-as-brand-new-but-still-pretty-awesome Mac Pro. In both cases, you might want to run Software Update on your machines. That’s because Apple today issued iMac Software Update 1.0 and Mac Pro SMC Firmware Update 1.1. The former fixes “important” bugs, while the latter is aimed at adjusting fan behavior.
Because of its slightly gorier nature, the Mac Pro update has some special requirements, so I strongly suggest you read through Apple’s instructions for running the update. If you see any change in your fan operation after it’s applied, feel free to tell us about it in the comments below.
