So, as my fellow New Englanders know, yesterday we got deluged by at least 10” of snow around my always pleasant hometown. Then, this morning, I trudged through said snow and a malfunctioning subway car (yes, riding the subway is ever-so-much-more-fun with no lights) for one of my rare trips into the office. But it was all worth it, so that I could bring you this news about a Java update for Tiger.
I was going to try to work in some funny little pun about needing a cup of coffee, but forget that. You people deserve the unvarnished truth. There’s a Java update for Tiger, you see—release 6. It does…er…Java stuff. Take it away, concise Apple technical writer:
Java for Mac OS X 10.4, Release 6 delivers improved reliability and compatibility for Java SE 5.0 and Java 1.4 on Mac OS X 10.4.10 and later. This release updates J2SE 5.0 to version 1.5.0_13 and Java 1.4 to version 1.4.2_16.Hells to the yes. Great. You know what that means. Haiku time.
Like winter dewdropsWe’re done here.
New Java is the bee’s knees
God, I hate the snow

Yes but where is the Java 6 version. As Java developer I must soon abandon MacOSX because I can no longer run code on MacOSX. Java 6 has so many new features and libraries that no Java 6 application runs on MacOSX. And this means of course that none of the applications we develop will be available for MacOSX.
