Man, I bet Gizmo Project’ll be happy to get off Derik’s bad side. A few weeks back, Gizmo released the latest version of its VOIP client, 3.0. Only, as it turns out, the release was just for Windows. This sent Derik into a frenzy—we had to distract him by yelling “Look, George Ou!” and then hit him in the back of the head with a MacBook Pro just to calm him down.
Fortunately, Derik and the rest of you can rest easy now, since Gizmo has released version 3.0 for OS X as well (Linux still seems to be stuck at 2.0—sorry, Tux fans). New features for this release include the ability to call users on Yahoo, Windows Live, or Google Talk; file transfers; chat history; and multiple chat conferences.
All very nice additions to a solid VOIP client. It may not have quite the installed base of Skype, or the video features of iChat, but it’s good to see some competition in this growing space.
