Apple’s going update crazy: 10.4.8 is here!

Posted by Scott Silverman | Friday, September 29, 2006 12:06 PM PT

10.4.8It seems that we have gotten an unprecedented number of updates from Apple recently. Just a few minutes ago Apple released 10.4.8, which seems to be tightening the last few loose bolts of Tiger (only one more update to go!). For a detailed description of the update, see Apple’s info page. Otherwise, here’s what I deem among the most important features of the 147 MB 10.4.8 update:

  • Adds EAP-FAST as an authentication option for AirPort
  • Improves ExpressCard support in Intel laptops
  • Adds more RAW image support for cameras
  • Fixes some issues with Microsoft Office
  • Improves reliability of certain USB devices
  • Improves responsiveness of Translation Widget (finally!)

And with the promise of Aperture 1.5 (which I’m still expecting today), I’m sure this won’t be the last update in our recent stream of bug-squashing.

Hi, since updating to 10.4.8 on my PowerPc, there is an anoying black box surrounding my pointer, any ideas why??

Thanks!

Well that's all fine and dandy, I'd rather wait to see what this breaks before I install it... as much as I love Apple, they never do enough testing before they release an update like this one.

The rectangle has to do with the zoom feature that 10.4.8 automatically turns on - find out more here:
