Apple software update three pack

Posted by Derik DeLong | Wednesday, August 01, 2007 6:23 AM PT

Software Update Apple’s software engineers have been busy little bees, and not just on the Leopard team. Dependent on whether you own an iPhone, you’ve got likely three software updates to apply.

Safari 3.0.3 beta is a security and stability update that patches four security issues. If you’re one of the many users of this beta browser, you should definitely upgrade immediately.

Security Update 2007-007 is a security update for the latest version of our favorite OS as well as the last version of Mac OS X Panther. If I counted correctly, 25 separate issues were fixed in both open source and in house components. Several fixes are specific to WebCore and WebKit. Again, this update is a must (particularly if you use iChat, as it has its own vulnerability).

Finally, what Apple centric blog entry would be complete without a mention of the iPhone? iPhone Software 1.0.1 (available through iTunes) fixes five issues involving the version of Safari included with the phone. This update fixes problems that will be revealed this week.

Just when you think all was quiet at Infinite Loop, we’re being overloaded.

Derik, you forgot to mention yesterday's AirPort Extreme update as well. It was out for MacBook, MacBook Pro, and Intel-based Mac Mini users. Cheers!
