Apple releases Software Updates for iPhoto, ProKit and Braille displays

Software Update started clamoring for my attention today as soon as I popped open the lid of my MacBook Pro, demanding that I update iPhoto to v7.1.2. This is a highly recommended update because it fixes a security issue which might result in “arbitrary code execution”. It basically means that it may lead to your Mac getting hijacked if you subscribe to a maliciously crafted photocast.

Since it is an iPhoto update, it is almost mandatory that it address “issues when publishing to a .Mac Web Gallery” and improve overall stability, so that is taken care of too. If you want full details on the security content of the iPhoto update, Apple has you covered.

There is also a ProKit 4.5 update which doesn’t do much and is recommended for users of Apple’s professional applications and a Braille Display Update 1.0 which expands Mac OS X’s built-in support for refreshable Braille displays to include several more. Fire up Software Update or grab ‘em from the Apple Support website.

Why can't I rename Events in iPhoto?

Even after the update, I am still stuck with whatever name an Event already has. THe one thing I can do is name a new Event. OK, but that's only a little help. WHen I try to rename an Event, sure, I can click on the name of whatever it currently is, and yes, it whites it out all ready for my new name. Buuut, when I type....nothing comes out. Or rather, nothing goes in to the blank, white space. THis happens on a late fall 06 iMac running 10.4.9. with iPhoto 7.1.2

After a few weeks, I've gotten no solutions from either Apple discussions board, or Macworld.com's, either.
