If you’re a Windows user (we’re assuming your Mac is in the shop and you’re stuck using your old PC for back up) and your iPod shuffle 1st or 2nd gen has been bugging out on you, Apple’s latest iPod Reset Utility should help you get it back in working order.
It will restore your shuffle back to factory settings, erasing all music and data on your iPod and installing current iPod software on it. The 4.9 MB download is available on Apple’s support website for Windows 2000 with SP4 and Windows XP (SP2). Good luck, and hope they fix your Mac soon.
MacUser is your source for news, info, and opinion about Apple, the Mac, and the iPod. Our dedicated team of bloggers covers everything that is relevant to Mac users — and, okay, some stuff that’s not quite relevant, but is still a lot of fun. (Plus, we've got columns by Andy Ihnatko!)

I thought you'd accidentally omitted something, but no...they really don't support the iPod Reset Utility under Vista.
Priceless.
