200606141340Surely you’ve heard of Aperture, Apple’s solution for professional photographers shooting in RAW, and maybe you’ve heard some of the not-so-nice things people have had to say about it. Often people will compare Aperture to Adobe’s free, still-in-Beta program Lightroom, which was updated to version beta 3 today.

The newest version is available for free download directly from Adobe, and has quite a few upgrades/updates, the most significant of which are:

  • Before/After preview and ability to track changes, which allows better monitoring of your post-production
  • Live previewing of HTML and Flash web output
  • Handles PSD/TIFF files
  • Straighten tool for fixing those crooked horizons
  • Keyword enhancements
  • New printing options
  • More camera RAW support

Most likely, if it weren't for Aprture, Lightroom wouldn't even exist.
