Apple’s not had the best luck with software updates recently. QuickTime 7.2 had some serious beefs with apps relying on the Code Fragment Manager, and the SuperDrive Firmware Update caused some drives to take a long walk off a short pier. Now it appears there are also some issues with last month’s enigmatic MacBook Pro Software Update 1.0.
When running Motion (included with Final Cut Studio) after installing MacBook Pro Software Update 1.0 on a MacBook Pro 2.2 or 2.4 GHz computer, Motion may unexpectedly quit.Whoa, bummer. Unfortunately, there are probably a decent number of people to whom Motion is mission critical software on their MBP. Your solution, Apple?
You can use Motion with a MacBook Pro (2.4/2.2 GHz) computer, but you should avoid installing MacBook Pro Software Update 1.0 on the computer. If you have already applied this update, perform an Archive & Install installation of Mac OS X using the discs which were included with the computer. After reinstalling Mac OS X, reinstall Final Cut Studio.Reinstall? Classy. As long as we’re on the subject of totally time-consuming annoying methods of fixing things, how about you stop releasing updates that trash other programs, huh? Kay, thanks.
