Apple must have some sort of klutzy keyboard disorder. First it was the MacBook Pro eaving ut he irst ew etters of some words. Now I’m having trouble with the MacBook Air, which, after hitting a key, will freeze on that letter and produce ittttttttttttt
…lots of times. Kinda like that.
When that happens, it ignores other input for a second or so, leaving you with a dozen instances of that one letter and the tail-end of whatever you were writing after it. Painfully annoying when writing pretty much anything, especially in IM conversations where the exchange is fast and only half-focused on.
Another problem I’ve been having: the backlighting on the keyboard is totally inoperable. When I first got the machine, I noticed the backlighting flickering on and off, as if the internal lighting sensor was confused and unable to adjust the brightness. Now the backlighting doesn’t work at all.
Anyone out there in Reader Land have any of these issues? Have you found any fixxxxxxxxxxx
…’Cause that would be swell.

Well, thanks for letting everyone know about Macbook's problems. Now I know I should hold onto my money until all the kinks are worked out before buying MacBook Air.
Applecareeeeeee
I love Mac and Apple, but know enough about tech to never buy the first version out the door. Every new release has growing pains and bugs. But give them a month or two, and they quietly fix them and release a new version.
Use the force, not your finger. You lack Jedi training to be truly worthy of Macbook Air. But cheer up! You were already worthy of the 1st trial - You were able to pay $1799 plus sales tax to get the MacBook Air!! Your credit card passed the Steve Jobs Jedi Trial!
Ha ha! Who's the loser now? The big show off now faces keyboard issues. Here's waiting for rev.2!
(Just kidding man. Hope your issue gets sorted out)
A visit to the Apple Store is in order.
This actually seemed to happen to me once yesterday, but I'm not entirely sure. I'm on an Intel iMac running Leopard. It's possible that I could have been holding the key, but I don't think I was...
Now there's one reason I would wait till everything is bugfree
How did you resolve the prob with the MacBookPro missing the first characters? I'm having the same problem
Yes, my MacBook Air's keyboard worked fine when I first got it, but now, in a dark room, it doesn't activate the backlighting anymore. If I shine a flashlight on it, it triggers it, but then it goes off again. It's great backlighting...if it worked.
I have the same problem with keyboard illumination. Worked fine for the first 3 wks. I wonder if its caused by a software update...
