iBook G4 declared defective by Denmark

iBook You know you’re screwed up when an entire country points out a flaw. Denmark is going after Apple for a flaw in the iBook G4. More specifically, they’re prosecuting Apple for their straight out denial of the issue, leaving many users out in the cold when their screens went dark through no fault of their own.

Recently, most of these defects have largely been conjecture or based upon anecdotal evidence. Denmark seems to have done it up right, with a full scientific analysis of the problem, which is a solder point that weakens with every boot cycle. Eventually the connection is severed, necessitating repair or hacky solutions like a clamp or cardboard shims to re-establish that connection.

It looks like Danish consumers will be able to return their now rather aged laptops (with Apple at fault).

I've got an iBook G4 1.33GHz 12" and it has been dropped numerous times, and even once or twice while standing up. The construction was why I bought it. I've upgrade the RAM and HDD, just to be able to fit more, and it's working great. Even though the G4 is a slower processor, I'm glad I didn't get that Compaq Turion model because I don't think it would have survived the first drop. Yes, I'm accident prone.
