A long time ago, I started whining about the most obnoxious Mac OS X bug I’d ever experienced. It didn’t cause data loss. It didn’t slow down the computer. It did one very annoying thing. It put iCal reminders half off the screen. No amount of fiddling fixed the issue. It’s the dreaded shyCal syndrome.
The newly released 10.4.9 fixed it. I let out a long sigh of relief as my reminders now appear somewhere on the screen where I can actually read the text. Imagine that. I’ve yet to discourage the application of any software update, but this is one that I can really get behind.
MacUser is your source for news, info, and opinion about Apple, the Mac, and the iPod. Our dedicated team of bloggers covers everything that is relevant to Mac users — and, okay, some stuff that’s not quite relevant, but is still a lot of fun.
It's still happening on mine though
10.4.9 also fixed an InDesign problem that's bugged me--taking 30 seconds or so to close a document and quit the application. After the upgrade, it takes just a few seconds.
Apple listed InDesign as one of the third party applications with problems they fixed. This must be what they meant.

Oddly, shyCal only happens on my PowerBook, not on my iMac. Still, it will be nice to be rid of it.
I reapplied the combo update and shycal is fixed!! Shouldn't have used the incremental update file. Always go with the combo.
