I love iChat. It’s probably the app I use more than anything else. That’s not to say I have lots of friends: I just always talk to the same few people—but having those four or five chat windows open all the time makes it seem like I’m popular and important. And as I always say: As long as I seem popular and important, I am popular and important.
I showed you a Little Stuff iChat tip a while ago about incorporating variables (%n for names, etc.) into your away messages for some deceptively-personal amusement.
Well now I’ve got another one for you: Using the IRC-like “/me” command to add inline actions to a chat. Check the screen shot:

Now, will that ever come in handy for anything useful? Probably not…but usefulness isn’t the only important thing in the world, right? It’s there, and it’s fun. What more could you ask for?
(Obligatory note: This only works for the 10.5 version of iChat. If you’re talking to someone on AIM Client or 10.4 iChat, they’ll see “/me whatever,” not the inline text.)

IRC has had this feature for years if not decades.
Yeah, that's why I noted it was an "IRC-like" feature.
