Opening files without having to open files: it’s the brilliance of Leopard’s new Quick Look feature. Great for pictures, or PDF documents, sure, but what about other crucial file types? Like email, or, say, iCal.
One Mac OS X Hints reader pointed out that Quick Look works perfectly well for events in your iCal calendar too. If you do a search in Spotlight for an iCal event and hit spacebar, it’ll pop up a panel with a calendar icon reflecting the date of the event, as well as other details you’ve put into the record.
Even better, if you do a search for some keyword that appears in your iCal events (the tipster above uses a search for “night shift” to find his work schedule), you can easily view the results in CoverFlow without even having to open them in Quick Look. I call this method “Quicker Look.” Nice, right?

I noticed yesterday that even the Trash (Brit note: Rubbish bin) has Cover Flow! Little touches, little touches.
