I’m like the polar opposite of productivity guru Merlin Mann. For example, he’s got his “Inbox Zero” methodology; I’m currently working on “Inbox Ten Thousand Nine Hundred and One.” He is beloved by thousands upon thousands of Internet readers; sometimes I even get a birthday card from my mom.
Still, I admire his chutzpah, and whenever I want to daydream about what it would be like if I were “getting things done,” as the kids say, it’s to his excellent resources that I invariably turn.
All of that is prelude to point you towards an excellent write-up on Merlin’s 43 Folders on how to harness the power of Mail.app’s Smart Mailboxes to make your email management not just more organized but, heck, more enjoyable.
And since I know that my overloaded Inbox makes Merlin cry himself to sleep every alternate Tuesday, I promise that I’m putting an item in my action list right now to clean up my mailbox. Or, well, I would. If I could find my action list. Blast.
