Cheat the man, put Windows on an external

Boot Camp One of the limitations of Boot Camp is that it requires you to use an internal drive. For those of us with a Mac Pro, the easy thing to do is get a cheap SATA drive and put Windows on that. That way, none of your Boot Disk’s space is lost to Windows.

That’s not an option with any other Intel Mac. With the MacBook’s 60 GB drive, giving up even 10 GB (or 20 if you actually want to do anything) will cramp you. MacRumors has the solution. It basically breaks down to modifying your Windows install disc, removing the internal drive (much easier on a MacBook), and then installing. I know I’d much rather keep a USB external drive around for occasional Windows slumming than give up precious internal drive space.
