When the “local” Apple store is 45 minutes away, it’s nice to have back-up options, like BestBuy, Circuit City, and CompUSA. After all, when it comes to computer-shopping, nothing beats physically going to a store and seeing your desired Mac in all its glory.
That’s why I’m sad that CompUSA plans to close 126 stores in the next few months. Although the Apple section of my local CompUSA store is pathetic, it’s still convenient to be able to buy iPod cables, Mac software, etc. after I’ve finished my bookstore run (B&N employees fear me when I come into the store on a lazy Saturday). With CompUSA closing half its stores in the U.S. and Puerto Rico, it’s likely that the next time I need my Apple-product fix “in the wild,” I’ll have to hightail it down the Turnpike, whining all the way (I don’t like the Turnpike. I can’t help it).

My CompUSA is remaining open. No turnpike for me.

I know! We have nothing in the harrisburg area besides MacHeadz. Yet I still yearn for the glow of an Apple store. I would gladly quit my stupid PC Support job to work at an Apple store around here!
Steve, you listening?

First, Kate, let me welcome you to MU and offer up my congratulations. I love the wonderful news and entertainment you folks bring to me.
Second, how I wish I had an Apple Store that could complain about driving to! My nearest one is about a 5 hour drive. Now *that's* something to fear. I could probably get to 5 different CompUSAs between there and here. ;-) Locally, I have a Best Buy, CompUSA, and B&N - all in the same center. I park somewhere in the middle and like to hit them all! B&N got me hooked on mochas. So much so that I have raw green coffee beans shipped to my house. I roast them myself and make my own mocha every morning to take to work with me. See my web site for more info on my coffee habit.

All the CompUSAs in my area are closing. Fortunately 45 minutes is the longest drive to one of the 4 Apple Stores around me :)

the four CompUSA stores here are closing as well. perhaps it is due to the close proximity of the four Apple stores here..

I wish I has ANY Apple stores I could complain about having to drive to. The closest one here in AB, Canada is 3 days away and in a completely different province!
I guess I'm stuck with the likes of Best Buy...
Here's to hoping for more Apple stores here :)

Okay, I want to start in Apple store in Central PA. Too bad they don't "franchise"

Sorry folks, I don't even have to drive to get to my Apple store...I'm literally a five-minute walk away from the store in Ardmore, PA.
Jealous?

Quit your bely aching! I have to drive over an hour to the nearest Apple store and it's a little hole in the wall in the mall. IO hare the local CompUSA so I won't even enter the door and the BestBuy has limited Apple deployment.
