Like a shadow sweeping forth from Mordor, Apple continues to extend its retail operations across the land, aiming for its goal of putting an Apple Store within spitting distance of every man, woman, child, cat, and goldfish on this green Earth.
The three new stores, which are scheduled to open this Saturday, can be found in Ann Arbor, Michigan; Orland Park, Illinois; and Holyoke, Massachusetts. Ann Arbor and Holyoke are particularly unsurprising choices, as both are near major centers of student populations. Ann Arbor, of course, is home to the University of Michigan, while Holyoke resides near Western Massachusetts’s Five College Area (comprising University of Massachusetts, Amherst; Smith College; Mount Holyoke College; Hampshire College; and Amherst College). Meanwhile, the Illinois location is south of the Chicago area, meaning that Chicago is now effectively bracketed by stores to the North, West, and South (including some in the downtown area itself).
All that’s left is for Apple to put one on a floating platform in Lake Michigan: once the terrifying shape is complete, they will be able to unleash their reign of terror on the Midwest. Mark my words.

I live about 10 minutes from the Orland Park store so it will be great for me not having to drive 40 minutes to get to a Apple store. But I am confused why you said that "Chicago is now effectively bracketed... (including some in the metropolitan area itself)" all those stores are in the Chicago metro area(called Chicagoland)
@Matt: I can give you no reasonable answer beyond my own poor word choice. I've amended it to "downtown area," which I think better conveys what I meant to say all along. Thanks for the comment. ;)
