We all know Steve Jobs’s fondness for all things cubical (those Rubix things? Dynamite.). First it was the NeXT cube, then it was the PowerMac G4 Cube, and now we have the Apple Cube at Fifth Avenue in Manhattan.
We’ve talked about the store before, and Aaron mentioned the line forming for the grand opening (which is already underway, it appears—geez, you’d think a Star Wars movie was opening down there or something). But as of yesterday, workers began removing the black covering which shrouded the cube, revealing the glorious glass monolith beneath for all to see. The grand opening festivities are scheduled for tomorrow.
You know, the Apple Cube really reminds me of I.M. Pei’s pyramid outside the Louvre in Paris. This will fit perfectly into my forthcoming novel: The Jobs Code. It’s the story of a dashing blogger who discovers that Steve Jobs embedded codes and riddles inside each and every Macintosh model ever produced—together they reveal a terrible truth about the world’s most famous computer brand. The secret is jealously guarded by a secretive organization of Apple zealots. Way more believable than that Da Vinci crap.
MacUser is your source for news, info, and opinion about Apple, the Mac, and the iPod. Our dedicated team of bloggers covers everything that is relevant to Mac users — and, okay, some stuff that’s not quite relevant, but is still a lot of fun.
The Da Vinci Code is a load of crap.
Nice cube.
Here, here, about the Da Vinci crap!
Man, that cube is really beautiful! Apple is really incredible!
