Even the most ardent Windows fan will admit Apple’s designs are a work of art. The new store in New York still gets talked about (and Flickr is still pumping out a steady stream of fresh pictures). Some areas hope to get an Apple store. Portland, Oregon would rather not.
Their Landmarks Commission decided with two different designs on two separate occasions that the design didn’t work for them. In fact, during their second visit, Apple tried to appease the original concerns of the Commission.
Now an update: If you haven’t already heard, the project is now dead. Even after Apple and its local architect, Holst, agreed to the Landmarks Commission’s changes, the commission as I understand it, still told Apple that more significant changes were needed. So Apple pulled out of the deal.
No wonder. Sounds like the commission was sending a pretty clear message and trying hide behind a thinly veiled excuse.

I'm sure they'd more than welcome a DELL STORE
