I loved all the groundbreaking, life-altering rumors that predicted the return of Apple’s Back to School promo. It was so hard to see coming and I was so relieved to get that extra day of warning. Sorry, my sarcasm filter got stuck on.
As has been done in years past, Apple is running a promotion aimed at students. You buy a new Mac using that fancy education discount (including teachers in addition to students); you get a free iPod. But wait, there are some caveats. Your free iPod must either be a 8GB iPod nano (any color) or an iPod Touch (all sizes, but same $299 discount).
You also can’t purchase just any Mac. The Mac mini and iMac 17” are excluded. Otherwise, it’s fair game. If you know a student about to enter a new school year that needs a new computer, remind them that not only do they get a free iPod, but all the cool kids are getting Macs.
MacUser is your source for news, info, and opinion about Apple, the Mac, and the iPod. Our dedicated team of bloggers covers everything that is relevant to Mac users — and, okay, some stuff that’s not quite relevant, but is still a lot of fun.
Uhm, I would hope they're not giving discounts for buying the iMac 17"...
hi - great column - mange tak! :-)
I'm located in Denmark and would like to purchase a macbook pro
Q: does this deal with the free ipod apply ONLY in USA ?
I can't see anything on the Apple Denmark store
Thanks
"The Mac mini and iMac 17” are excluded." As of the aluminum iMac redesign, Apple dropped the 17" model.
And yet, Apple still specified that in the terms of the promotion.
I trust you can verify that on your own.
