International Apple stores, present and future

While the U.S. has enjoyed its share of Apple stores over the past five years or so, few other countries have received a similar treatment; the only other countries to be graced with a few stores are the UK, Japan, Canada, and Italy. An impressive store is about to open in the UK, while Canada may see its first flagship shop sometime next year.

Readers from Scotland will be pleased to know the region’s first store is opening in Glasgow this coming Saturday, at 9:00 am. It’s located at 147 Buchanan Street in a beautiful antique building, which Apple has thankfully left intact, save for a giant Apple logo. And as usual, if you’re part of the first 1,500 visitors, you’ll score a free t-shirt.

Moving to North America now, it looks like Montreal will be the home to Canada’s first flagship store, at least if we’re to believe AppleInsider. Us Canadians have only enjoyed four stores up to now, all of them trapped in shopping centers, so you can imagine a street-side location in downtown Montreal would be great — to be more specific, the shop would occupy 1321 Ste-Catherine street. We’ll certainly keep an eye on how this develops.

The Apple Stores in Ontario aren't that bad being in shopping centres. In fact, I picked up the new keyboard today from the Eaton centre. Just came in. But way to go Montrealers, as they don't have to get to Toronto to visit an official store.

Please don't forget all the areas of the world where Apple Inc. doesn't have a presence of their own, but they work through IMCs, like Middle East, Eastern Europe, most of Africa, etc. We need more exposure on these areas.
