Canada’s latest and largest Apple store in Edmonton

As we point out too often it seems, Apple stores outside the U.S. have always been quite rare, which is why I’m glad to report that Canada’s sixth opened its doors this past Saturday in West Edmonton Mall — and it’s only fitting that the country’s largest outlet opened in the biggest shopping center in North America.

You may recall we mentioned the possibility of an early July store opening in Edmonton, Alberta, back in January when the mall’s president revealed Apple’s plans. For once, I guess the rumors were right. (Shocking!)

As for the opening itself, the Edmonton Journal claims a crowd of 600 people was on-site to experience the event, welcomed by the employees’ usual cheering. Since this is the first store in Alberta, the high turnout isn’t surprising.

However, the next store opening I’m personally most excited about is the one in my hometown, Montreal. It’ll be the first flagship store in Canada and construction is well underway.
